At Briggs Chaney Walk-In Clinic, we are able to accommodate workers from a variety of industries for occupational health concerns. While many area jobs require pre-employment screenings, the considerations of occupational health extend beyond these initial concerns. This can make check-ups and physicals for work related concerns an important factor in maintaining overall wellness.
Employees from numerous occupations can be exposed to environments and situations that can lead to illness if these factors and initial concerns are not quickly addressed. These job related aspects may include:
- Exposure to chemicals
- Consistent loud noises in the work environment
- Mental and physical stressor
- Postural and musculo-skeletal strains and injuries
- Unseen hazards within the construction materials of the work environment
All of these agents can have a strong effect when exposure happens over time, and at Briggs Chaney Walk-In Clinic, we offer regular screenings and checkups for patients who have these work related concerns.
Our occupational health services also extend to the pre-requisites to getting hired, and we can provide testing and physicals that are required through employers before a candidate may begin working. Our facility is certified to carry out these screenings, and we have over 30 years of experience through partnering with a majority of the local businesses to carry out these tests.
For individuals who are preparing to start a new job, we are able to perform the necessary examinations that any employer may require. Along with regular pre-employment drug and alcohol testing, we are also able to help with the following prerequisites for employment:
- Physicals (DOT, non-DOT, and Capacity Assessment)
- Respiratory fitness and pulmonary function tests
- TB testing
- Lab work and blood panels
Employers typically require at least one of these types of tests before offering an employment opportunity. Most companies will make the necessary arrangements to have their potential hires come and see us for the required screenings. However, if you are an employer and are seeking a place to send your employees, please contact us to set-up a contract to ensure your employees are processed in timely manner.
For On The Job Considerations
Although certain industries, especially agricultural jobs or employment that exposes workers to hazardous materials, will encourage employees to get regular physicals to test for such things as carcinogens or heavy metals in the bloodstream, there are other occasions when random screenings are a part of occupational health considerations. Most frequently, this will occur if there has been an accident on site, or if performance concerns have led management to seek a physical evaluation for employee welfare. At Briggs Chaney Walk-In Clinic, our staff is all certified as Breath Alcohol Technician’s (BAT) and Specimen handlers and perform these functions according to federal regulations.
This type of testing or screening may include:
- Post accident or for cause drug screening
- Breath alcohol testing
- Random drug and alcohol screening
While these services are frequently required if there has been a workplace incident, we can also provide occupational health support for individuals who have been injured or been a part of a trauma event on the job. Our clinic is able to perform adjunct tests through X-rays and EKGs, to ensure that any employee who has been affected by an accident is in good health and is not exhibiting residual stress or is succumbing to internal injuries.
These service may also be necessary for employees who are planning to return to work after an incident that has resulted in injury. Along with a basic physical, many employers will also require certification that an individual is fully healed before they are able to re-commence their duties. To this end, we are committed to occupational health services which ensure employee welfare and also stay in keeping with an employer's OSHA requirements and standards. In this way we are able to forward occupational health from both the interests of the workers and the employers.
